Officially Fall

Yes we made it to the greatest season for soccer playing and refereeing. This is when you have to get the games in before it gets too dark. I remember doing a High School game with parents trying to light the field with their headlights of their cars. Not the way to finish a soccer game.

Running Referees

I wore my pedometer yesterday and had 10.10 miles on it. Now that is a good exercise program without having to go to the gym. Soccer players, coaches, referees and parents are all benefiting from good exercise.
Have you every worn a pedometer to a game?

Learning

28 referees got together in Wheaton, IL to discuss soccer refereeing on 09-09-09.  Thanks to Bob, Greg, Victor, and Don we all had a great time learning.  The pizza and pop served by assignors Dave and Don was appreciated.  We're all getting into the fall season of soccer.
Remember your work effort is being watched/assessed by everyone.  Do your best job every time you're out there.

Chicago Red Stars

I sure hope you didn't miss the first season of WPS- women's professional soccer.  The Chicago Red Stars had their tent up at the Naperville Gold Cup tournament over the weekend.  Soccerspot is selling their shirts and sweatshirts.  It is great to live in Chicago with all the great sports teams.  Hope to see you at next seasons games.

Fall season begins

What a joy to be back out on the fields.  The park district kids are playing soccer - 1800 kids all with soccer balls, cleats, uniforms and parents.  I want to thank the coaches for volunteering for our kids.  They did a great job on the first week of soccer and the kids are so excited about playing.
This is a great place to ask questions and to connect with other soccer coaches and referees.
Speaking of referees - thanks to all the great red shirts out there.  You're looking good.
See you after Labor Day.
